Ukrainian women joining the military amid Russia’s invasion

Shortly after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine in February, there was a surge of volunteers joining the Ukrainian army, many of whom were women.
Today there are 50,000 women in the Ukrainian military – 10,000 are on the front lines.
Women do not have to do mandatory military service in Ukraine, but the government is now considering making it mandatory for women with specific skills.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo reports from Kyiv, Ukraine.
